A couple of contests at Creative Scrappers

There are a couple of contests going on at Creative Scrappers right now. The first is a 28 hour sketch contest. It is going on until midnight EST tonight. Click here for the details on that. There is also a sketch design contest going on until June 30. For this contest, all you have to do is upload a maximum of five sketches that you have designed for 12x12 layouts in the gallery and post the links in the forum titled "Sketch Design Contest". Sketches can be computer generated or hand drawn. A vote will take place to determine the winner between July 1-5. The winner will receive a prize pack worth at least $50 from one of the Creative Scrappers sponsors, and the Design Team will create layouts based on the winning sketch. A contest will also take place based on the winning sketch! Sounds exciting, right? Come on over to Creative Scrappers and join in the fun! Introduce yourself in our forum and start chatting and having a great time with this group of fun and talented ladies!

Here is my layout for today's sketch contest. I used Pink Paislee Spring Fling papers, Bazzill and Prism cardstock, Prima flowers, American Craft Thickers, and Stampin' Up stamps.

Here is another layout that I did this week. It is a scraplift of a page by Amy Tara Koeppel at Create My Keepsake for their Last Scrapper Standing contest. I used BasicGrey Sultry papers, Fancy Pants chipboard, Prima and Heidi Swapp flowers, American Crafts Thickers, and BasicGrey Sultry letter stickers.

Check back on Sunday for the DT reveal and new sketch at Creative Scrappers. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

First sketch contest at Creative Scrappers and more good news!

The first sketch contest is going on at Creative Scrappers, and I hope you will come and join us! This sketch was provided by Liz Qualman.

You have until May 24 at 9pm EST to post your take on this sketch in the Creative Scrappers gallery. A random drawing will be held for all entries received. The prize is a Making Memories kit from Pizza Box Kits! I couldn't resist this awesome sketch, so here is my take on it:

In other scrappy news, my "First Birthday" layout that was posted in my last blog post was featured in the BasicGrey gallery this week!

I also found out today that I will be a Guest Design Team member for Kit 'n' Kaboodles this summer! It came as a total surprise, and I am so excited to work with this wonderful group of ladies and their gorgeous kits!

Online crop projects and some good news!

Last weekend was another fun scrappy one! Kit 'n' Kaboodles had an online crop, and it was so much fun! It is actually not over yet as we still have until midnight tonight to get our projects uploaded. I love that they gave us an extra couple of days to complete the challenges. All of the challenges were awesome, and I wish I had time to finish them all, but my scrap time was limited so I did what I could.

The first challenge I completed was Jules' color challenge. She posted two ads with interesting color combinations, and we were to pick one of the ads and use three of the colors in our layout. Here is what I came up with, using BasicGrey Two Scoops papers and Prima flowers.

Laura posted a sketch challenge using a sketch from Page Maps (Love that site!). Here is my take on the sketch using BasicGrey Cupcake papers.

Laura also posted a tutorial on how to make these cool mini flip books using a 5x7 acrylic sign holder that you can purchase at any office supply store. I drilled holes in the top of the sign holder 1/2" down from the top and 3/4" in from the sides. The back page slides into the sign holder (hence the glare on my picture) and the other pages are layered and held my book rings.

I also found out this weekend that I made the Design Team at Creative Scrappers, a new sketch blog. The first sketch contest has been posted, so come on over and check it out! While you are there, sign up to chat with us on the new message board and check out the gallery which is quickly filling up with tons of inspiration. I hope to see you there!

Happy Mother's Day!

With my birthday yesterday and Mother's Day today, this weekend has been all about me! My husband took off work Friday. We took the kids over to my parent's house and went to play golf. I am proud to say that I actually beat him quite badly. Since his shoulder surgery last summer, his swing hasn't been quite the same, so now I have an advantage. My sister came over yesterday to scrap with me. For Mother's Day, I made a card and a mini album for my mom.

For the card, I used Cosmo Cricket Hey Sugar papers, Bazzill cardstock, Prima flowers and Wild Asparagus ribbon.

For the mini album, I used Kaiser Craft Esperance and Garden Party papers, Kaiser Craft wood flourishes and felt, Tim Holtz Grungeboard, Prima flowers, and a bunch of other stuff.
